Sofija's Journey Home
Sofija was found living on Tara Mountain in September 2025 by an English visitor to Serbia named Joanna, who is now one of our Trustees! Sofija relied on the kindness of tourists and locals to survive. During the winter months, Tara Mountain is one of the coldest areas in Serbia, making survival extremely difficult. Joanna brought her safely to the Pansion, where she began her journey to a better life. Joanna adopted Sofija and she waited in the Pansion until she was ready to travel.
After arriving in the UK in March 2026, Sofija quickly settled into her new home and has been thriving ever since. She wasted no time making friends with her cat and dog siblings and is lovingly known as “baby fox” by her family. A true Velcro dog, Sofija loves nothing more than being close to her humans. Now safe, loved and happy, Sofija is a joy in her home and her family can’t imagine life without her.
