🐾 Personality & Temperament 🐾
Simba is an energetic, confident and intelligent boy with lots of personality. He is a cheeky, fun and happy character who is incredibly lovable. He is a small but sturdy boy with plenty of character and is always eager to interact with people. He loves attention and being stroked and is a really fun boy to be around!
He has a high energy level and absolutely loves his walks. He enjoys being outdoors, exploring and sniffing his surroundings. He has a strong prey drive and is very interested in insects, lizards and other small moving things, which he will try to chase. Because of this, Simba cannot live with cats and his prey drive will need to be managed carefully in his new home.
Simba also loves to bark and is very funny and entertaining. He has so much character and personality, and the experienced team who care for him have grown very fond of him. He is a wonderful dog who is very much loved by the people who know him well.
Simba is intelligent and enjoys learning, especially when food is involved. When food is given by hand or used as part of a game, he responds very well. We are working with him every day on his resource guarding and are continuing to help him learn positive ways of interacting around food.
However, his resource guarding does need to be taken seriously. Simba may guard leftover food in his bowl and will growl and clearly warn people not to approach while he is eating. He must be left completely alone while eating, and his future adopter will need to understand how to safely manage this behaviour and continue the training he has been receiving.
Simba can also be selective with other dogs. He cannot live with male dogs and may react if another dog does something he dislikes. While he has tolerated a non-dominant female dog, we would recommend that Simba is the only dog in the home so that he can have a calm and predictable environment without the added pressure of living alongside another dog.
Simba is not suitable for first-time dog owners or a home with children. He needs an experienced adopter who understands dog behaviour, can recognise his boundaries and is willing to continue his training and management on a daily basis.
We don’t know everything Simba may have experienced before he came into our care, but he must have been through a lot in his life. Like so many of the dogs who come to us, we can only imagine what they may have experienced before they were given the chance to feel safe.
Despite his challenges, Simba is a loving, funny and incredibly special boy. He is deeply loved by the experienced team who care for him, and we know there is so much to love about this cheeky character. With the right person, patience, understanding and continued training, we hope Simba can find the experienced home he deserves 💜
📖 Simba’s Story 📖
Simba was living on somebody’s land that has since been sold from beneath him – leaving him and multiple other dogs abandoned with nowhere to go. Thankfully, space was secured for the dogs at the pansion and they were moved to safety in May 2026.
Now, Simba is ready for the next step in his journey: a calm forever home with kind, experienced people who will continue his ongoing training. Simba is a truly wonderful boy who deserves a home where he can finally feel safe, loved and completely secure. Could that be with you? 💜
