Ira would thrive in a calm, cat-free home with experienced adults or older children, where she can build confidence and enjoy positive experiences at her own pace.

Ira is a wonderful girl with a huge heart and a beautiful zest for life. Despite being an older dog, she has a playful, puppy-like spirit and is full of character. She absolutely adores people, thrives on affection and is a joy to handle. She is cooperative and gentle with both her carers and veterinarians.

Ira forms strong bonds with those she knows and loves being included in daily life and activities. Ira walks well on the lead but is a strong girl, so she will need a confident and experienced handler who can continue guiding her positively. She enjoys playtime and engagement but can become a little enthusiastic, which is why she would be best suited to homes with older children who understand and respect dogs’ boundaries.

Having spent most of her life around smaller dogs, Ira is currently being carefully introduced to larger dogs. With patience, proper introductions, and guidance, she is making lovely progress and continues to grow in confidence when socialising.

Ira’s life began on the streets, but she was fortunate to be taken in by a family, where she lived for six years. Sadly, when her family decided to move home, they chose not to take her with them and instead brought her to a veterinary clinic to be euthanised. Thankfully, rescuer Snezana was alerted to her situation and stepped in immediately.

A sponsor was found, and Ira was safely brought into our care in January 2026. Since arriving, Ira has settled beautifully and has shown herself to be a loving, resilient and affectionate girl who is ready to be part of a family again. She is now ready to begin the next chapter of her life with a committed adopter who will give her the stability and love she truly deserves. Ira is looking for a home where she will be cherished as a family member and supported as she continues to build confidence and enjoy life to the fullest.
