Dorothy is a confident, intelligent girl with a big personality and an even bigger heart. She forms strong bonds with her people and loves having their attention and guidance. Once she trusts you, she is deeply loyal and devoted.
She prefers to be the only dog in the home, where she doesn’t have to compete for space or affection. Dorothy enjoys feeling secure and knowing her place within a calm, structured environment.
Because she is a strong and self-assured dog, Dorothy will thrive with an experienced owner who can provide clear boundaries, consistency and reassurance. In the right hands, her confidence becomes a wonderful quality; she is affectionate, expressive and full of character. With stability and understanding, Dorothy truly blossoms ✨
📖 Dorothy’s Story 📖
Dorothy was found living rough on the streets with her two puppies, with no shelter and surviving on scraps. She and her little family were eventually discovered during our Whispaws street feeding campaign, and we began feeding them regularly while searching for a safe solution. Sadly, before we could intervene, one of her puppies went missing.
As soon as space opened up, Dorothy and her remaining pup Betty, were brought into pansion care. Thankfully, both tested negative for any serious medical issues and have gone from strength to strength thanks to dedicated care and the kindness of Whispaws’ donors. They now receive monthly preventative treatment to keep them healthy and protected.
Over time, Dorothy became increasingly protective of Betty, always on high alert and focused on keeping her safe. While this showed what a devoted mother she is, it meant Dorothy initially struggled to fully relax.
As the weeks passed and they settled into routine, both Dorothy and Betty began to grow in confidence and thrive more independently. It gradually became clear that they would benefit from being adopted separately, allowing each of them the opportunity to truly flourish in their own homes.
We are so happy to share that Betty has now been adopted and will soon be travelling to the UK to begin her new life! With her daughter settled and safe, it is now Dorothy’s turn to find a home of her own, where she can relax, feel secure and be loved simply for being herself 💜
Her journey is one of resilience, devotion and a mother’s fierce love, and now she is ready for her own happy ending ✨
