📖 Basil’s Story 📖

Basil was found abandoned on the streets of a busy town, unwell and in urgent need of help. He was diagnosed with heartworm, anaemia, a perineal hernia and significant inflammation. Thanks to sponsor support, he received immediate veterinary care and is now safe in pansion, continuing his heartworm treatment and recovering well.

Basil is approximately 6 years old and is a strong, medium–large boy with a confident presence. Since arriving in pansion, he has become livelier and more settled, showing his intelligence and character as he regains his strength.

🐾 Rehabilitation & Training 🐾

Basil is currently undergoing structured training alongside his medical treatment. As a confident and dominant dog, he requires clear guidance, calm leadership, and experienced handling. He can react to other dogs, particularly small ones and for this reason he will be looking for a home where he is the only pet.

He must be fed separately and managed carefully around food. While he does not generally react to people in everyday situations, he can become tense in veterinary settings, so ongoing calm, confident handling will be important.

Basil will not be suitable for homes with:

• Children
• Other dogs
• Cats

🏡 Adoption Plan 🏡

Basil will only be available for adoption once he has successfully completed heartworm treatment and his behavioural training programme. Our priority is ensuring he is medically clear, emotionally stable and fully prepared for the right home.

When ready, Basil will be seeking an experienced, adult-only home with structure, consistency and confident leadership – someone who understands strong, intelligent dogs and can continue guiding him with patience and clarity.
