Whispaws is a volunteer-run UK charity working with compassion to improve animal welfare in Serbia. We are a small rescue creating a quiet but powerful impact. Offering safety, healing, and homes to abandoned dogs and cats. With a strong focus on street outreach and sterilisation campaigns, we care for those often overlooked. In a world full of noise, we move gently and with purpose - reigniting one light at a time.
The Whispaws story
During the summer of 2019 we met Jimi, pictured here, outside of a supermarket in Bar, Montenegro.
He was wandering around parked cars, looking extremely sick waiting at their doors as if asking someone to help him, so we did.
Jimi’s rescue reignited a dream of one day opening a shelter and charity. That dream is now a reality in the form of Whispaws Animal Sanctuary.

Whispaws is a UK registered charity providing sanctuary to abandoned animals in Serbia. Our trustees are based in the UK and we have volunteers and supporters from many countries around the world!
There are several ways to support our work including monetary donations, donations of time, skills and fundraising efforts. Every small action counts and we are always open to new ideas.

At Whispaws, we rescue dogs from the streets of Serbia, many of them known to us through our
street feeding programme. When a space becomes available at our rehabilitation Pansion (boarding facility), and if funds allow, we bring them into safety.
But monthly care comes at a cost and this is where you or your business can make a direct impact.
