Meet Sofi

Sofi is an absolute sweetheart – gentle, affectionate, and always ready for a cuddle. Found abandoned in the Serbian countryside near Novi Sad, she was gravely ill when rescued. Her diagnosis: Distemper and heartworm. But Sofi is a fighter! After isolation, intensive treatment, and a lot of love, she made a full recovery from both.

As a result of the Distemper, Sofi has some residual neurological twitching, mostly in her legs, though it can affect her whole body at times. Over the months in our care, these movements have become less frequent and less severe, but they may never disappear entirely.

She continues to receive vet-supervised therapy, and we’re hopeful she’ll find a loving home where her care can be gently continued. Despite everything, Sofi walks well, runs, plays, and sleeps peacefully. She’s happy, content, and very much full of life.

Sofi’s story is one of courage and quiet strength. Dogs like her remind us of resilience, grace, and the power of love to heal.
